A dimple is the small hollow that appears in the cheek or beside the mouth when you smile. Dimple creation is used to soften a strong impression, to add a point of interest to the face, or to place a dimple beside or below the corner of the mouth.
The position and depth are designed from the face shape, the smile line and how much of the teeth show. The skin surface is not cut: a fine dissolving thread is passed through the inside of the mouth and the mucosa is tied to the tissue beneath, so the dimple appears when you smile.
For the first two to three months the dimple shows even at rest; it settles into a natural dimple over time. Large facial movements are avoided for the first one to two months.
